A Mothers Heart

...29 weeks Pregnant...

My best friend is someone who is 18 and a half months old. He is the coolest little dude I have ever met and he is all mine. Yup, I spend hours upon hours with this little monster. Often times he makes me laugh and there are other times I'm totally driven crazy. At the end of the day, I find myself staring at him and thinking, how did I get so lucky?
To me, he is perfect in every single way. I'm obviously biased, because after all he is my child. God knew what he was doing when he gave me Braxton because he is my total dream child.
Being pregnant again, it is hard to imagine another face other then Braxton's. I know it is going to be awesome and wonderful though.

I will admit being a mom is not the easiest thing I have ever done. In fact, it has been very challenging, exhausting....but totally rewarding. There are times where I just need a moment for myself....but most of my time is spent very self-less.
I came across a super inspiring post yesterday and I had to share it because I felt totally convicted in a sense. You can read it here:

Basically this post just talks about how as a society we have become so focused on our cell phones that we are missing our children grow up. I know I have been guilty of this. Growing up, my mom didn't have a cell phone until I was a teenager....now, you are strange if you don't have a cell phone. A smart phone for that matter.
The bottom line is, as a mother I don't want to miss a single thing. I want to be the best mother I possibly can for my son(s). I have the opportunity to give my children a childhood....why waste that? Some of the most formative years are from when our child is born until the age of 5, they learn more during these years then they ever will in their life.
That is a huge responsibility as a parent....we have the opportunity to influence our children in big ways.
For the next 11 weeks my son and I have the last "alone" time together until he is a big brother. I am so excited for him to have a brother....but I also want him to know how much he is loved.
Good friends of ours gave us a book called "Goodnight Moon". Up until we got this book, Braxton refused to be read to. That all changed with this book...he adores it. In fact, it is his special book that he only wants mommy to read to him before bed. I love these moments more then anything.

So if you are a mommy, I urge you to not miss your children growing up. Put the phone down and show your child you really care.

Hoping you all have a lovely Wednesday. Xoxoxo

Aww, I loved this post - always love your posts. They do grow up so quickly. Mine's in middle school already, and it's flown by. I can't stand it when I a parent chatting it up on the phone with their little one begging, just begging for attention. Get OFF the phone and be present!!! It's certainly not always easy but to impact your children you must be present!
